A no-needle reading taken at points on your hands and feet, which our integrative team interprets beside your HRV, thermography and lab results to look for the root cause.
EAV stands for Electrodermal Acupuncture According to Voll, after the German physician Dr. Reinhold Voll, who developed the method in the 1950s. It measures how easily a very small, low-voltage current passes through your skin at specific acupuncture points.
Most of those points sit at the ends of your fingers and toes, and each is associated with an organ or body system. A full set of readings forms a map, not a single score.
You may also see it called electrodermal screening (EDS), electroacupuncture or meridian stress assessment.

The test is quiet and hands-on. You stay seated and clothed, with shoes and socks off so we can reach the points on your feet.
Many patients come to us after hearing for years that their results look normal while they still feel unwell. EAV widens the search.
EAV is a complementary assessment, and its readings can shift with skin moisture, probe pressure and technique. We treat results as clues to follow up, never as a verdict.
EAV is one part of our specialized testing. Each test answers a different question, so we rarely rely on one alone.

What patients in Scottsdale ask before their first reading.
EAV, or Electrodermal Acupuncture According to Voll, measures skin conductance at acupuncture points on the hands and feet, each associated with an organ or body system. We use the pattern as a guide for where to look more closely.
EAV is not a diagnostic test, and readings can shift with skin moisture, probe pressure and technique. We never act on a single reading, and we confirm what it suggests with your history, an exam and lab work.
Yes, the names overlap. EDS, electroacupuncture and meridian stress assessment all describe skin conductance testing at acupuncture points, and EAV is the original method. Devices differ, so how the reading is interpreted matters more than the name.
No needles are used and nothing breaks the skin. Most patients feel only light pressure from the blunt probe on their fingers and toes.
Cost depends on whether EAV is done on its own or as part of a broader testing plan. We review pricing with you at your consultation, before any testing begins.
We offer EAV testing at our office at 8765 East Bell Road in Scottsdale, as part of our specialized testing with HRV, thermography and customized lab work.
