Three Samples, Three Different Views
Blood, urine and saliva each carry different information. When symptoms have no clear explanation, we decide which samples answer your questions and order only those.
-
Blood
A blood draw shows what is circulating in your body right now, and it is the standard sample for many nutrient, metabolic and immune markers.
Often used to look atVitamin and mineral status, blood sugar, thyroid and other hormones, inflammation, and immune activity.
-
Urine
Urine shows what your body is processing and clearing. It adds information a blood draw does not, such as how your body breaks down and eliminates substances.
Often used to look atKidney function, metabolic byproducts, how hormones are broken down, and exposures your body is working to clear.
-
Saliva
Saliva can be collected several times in one day without a needle, which helps when a daily pattern matters more than a single reading.
Often used to look atCortisol rhythm from morning to night, and certain hormone levels when we are planning or adjusting hormone support.
When a Deeper Lab Workup Makes Sense
Many patients come to us after hearing that their labs look fine. Customized testing is for symptoms that remain unexplained.
Sudden or severe symptoms, chest pain or visible blood in the urine need urgent medical care first.
- Persistent fatigue. Chronic fatigue syndrome or exhaustion that rest does not fix.
- Elusive chronic illness. Lyme disease, mold illness and other conditions with no single clear cause.
- Gut trouble. SIBO and SIFO, IBS, histamine intolerance and inflammatory disorders.
- Hormone changes. Symptoms that may call for bioidentical or homeopathic hormone support.
- Possible nutrient gaps. Signs that your vitamin or mineral levels need a closer look.
- Toxic overload. Environmental exposures that may be adding to inflammation.
A Screening Panel Versus a Root-Cause Workup
Walk-in labs and drug screens have their place. A medical workup asks a different question: why you feel the way you do.
| Walk-in screening panel | Our customized testing | |
|---|---|---|
| Purpose | A yes or no answer, such as a drug screen or a single value. | Explaining ongoing symptoms and finding what drives them. |
| Who picks the tests | You choose from a menu, or an employer chooses for you. | Our clinicians choose them after reviewing your history and symptoms. |
| Samples | Usually one sample type. | Blood, urine or saliva, combined when the question needs it. |
| Results | A report with reference ranges, often with no visit to go over it. | Explained in plain language and read alongside your other testing. |
| What happens next | Up to you. | A written plan, then repeat testing to see whether it is working. |
From First Visit to Retest
Turnaround depends on the panel and the lab that runs it, so we go over timing when your tests are ordered.
- 1
Consultation
We review your symptoms, history, medications, diet, environment and past labs, then decide which samples and markers are worth testing.
- 2
Sample Collection
We explain how to prepare for each test, including any fasting, first-morning urine or timed saliva samples, so your results are reliable.
- 3
Results Review
We read your blood, urine and saliva results together, and with any EAV, thermography or heart rate variability findings, so no single number is judged out of context.
- 4
Plan and Recheck
Your results shape a written plan. Repeat testing over the following months shows what has changed.

Lab Testing Questions, Answered
What patients ask most before their first blood, urine or saliva test with us.
Cost depends on which tests your plan includes. We go over pricing with you at your consultation, before any testing is ordered.
What can blood, urine and saliva tests show that one sample cannot?
Each sample reflects a different part of your health. Blood shows what is circulating now, urine shows what your body is processing and clearing, and saliva is often used to track hormones such as cortisol across a day. Reading them together gives a fuller picture than any one sample alone.
Do you offer drug or employment screening?
Our blood, urine and saliva testing is part of medical care. We order it after a consultation to look into your symptoms. If you need a workplace, school or legal screen, call our office before you come in and ask whether it fits what you need.
I noticed blood in my urine. Is this the right test?
Visible blood in the urine needs a prompt medical evaluation, so contact your primary care doctor or an urgent care clinic first. Our testing is designed for longer-running concerns such as fatigue, gut problems, hormone changes and chronic illness.
Is saliva testing as accurate as a blood draw?
They answer different questions. Saliva is useful when several samples across the day matter, such as a cortisol rhythm. Blood is the standard for many nutrient, metabolic and inflammatory markers. We choose the sample that fits the question your symptoms raise.
How do I prepare for my lab tests?
Preparation depends on the panel. Some tests need fasting, a first-morning sample or saliva collected at set times. We explain the steps for your specific tests when they are ordered, so the results are reliable.
My regular labs came back normal, but I still feel unwell. Can you help?
Many of our patients arrive with that story. A routine panel screens for disease, while a customized workup can look at nutrient status, hormone patterns, inflammation and toxic load. We read those results alongside your history to look for the root cause.
