What PEMF Is

How PEMF Therapy Works

PEMF stands for pulsed electromagnetic field. A device sends short magnetic pulses through a mat or a smaller applicator, and the field passes through clothing, skin and bone to reach the tissue underneath.

Every cell keeps a small electrical charge across its membrane, which it uses to move nutrients in and waste out. PEMF is used to support that cell activity, improve local circulation and calm the inflammation that keeps tissue sore, so the body's own repair work can continue.

You stay fully clothed and lie or sit still. Depending on the intensity, most people feel nothing at all, a light tapping or mild warmth.

We use PEMF the way we use the Avacen and the Biomodulator in our office: as a device therapy aimed at pain and inflammation, chosen because it fits your plan rather than sold as a standalone session.

Our Approach

PEMF Inside a Root-Cause Plan

PEMF is often sold by the session. We start by asking why the pain, stiffness or fatigue is there, then decide where PEMF fits.

That way a series of sessions works alongside the changes your body needs, not in place of them.

  • 01

    Testing Before Treatment

Heart rate variability, thermography and EAV testing, plus customized blood and urine tests, show how your body is coping and where inflammation sits. See our specialized testing.

  • 02

    Nutrients Your Cells Need

Orthomolecular medicine checks for nutritional deficiencies and corrects them with customized oral and IV doses of vitamins and minerals, guided by nutritional consulting.

  • 03

    IV Support

IV formulas for anti-inflammatory support, detoxification and energy enhancement can run alongside a PEMF series.

  • 04

    Other Pain Devices

The Avacen and the Biomodulator are used in our office to help reduce pain and inflammation when one tool is not enough.

Meet Dr. Isaac Yosef, NMD

Founder and Naturopathic Medical Doctor

Dr. Yosef is an integrative physician. He treats chronically ill patients with elusive illnesses, such as chronic fatigue syndrome and Lyme disease, by identifying root causes and addressing underlying imbalances and toxic overload.

For PEMF patients, that means the device is one part of a plan. He looks at your labs, nutrition and inflammation before deciding how often you need sessions, and whether you need them at all.

Lina Kay, PA-C, MS, works alongside him with a focus on gastrointestinal disorders and environmental medicine, including chronic fatigue syndrome and mold illness. Meet our team.

What to Expect From PEMF Therapy

  1. 1

    Consultation

We go over your symptoms, history and any implanted or worn device, so PEMF is only used when it suits you.

  2. 2

    Testing and Plan

Testing is added when it would help. You leave knowing how often to come and what else is in your plan.

  3. 3

    Your Session

You rest fully clothed on the mat or with an applicator over the area, then return to your day.

  4. 4

    Series and Review

PEMF is usually given as a series. We check in at each visit and adjust the settings or schedule.

Some patients notice a change within the first few sessions. Others, especially with long-standing pain, need a longer series before they feel the difference.

How Much Does PEMF Therapy Cost in Scottsdale, AZ?

Cost depends on how many sessions your plan includes and whether PEMF is paired with testing or other treatments. We give you the full price at your consultation, before any session starts.

Is PEMF Therapy Worth It?

It depends on what is behind your symptoms. PEMF tends to suit chronic pain, stiffness and slow recovery, and for most people it works as one part of a plan that also addresses the cause. If another treatment would serve you better, we tell you plainly.

Should I Buy a Home PEMF Device?

Home devices vary widely in strength and price. Trying PEMF in our office first shows you how your body responds before you spend money on equipment. If a home unit makes sense for you, we can talk through what to look for.

Does PEMF Therapy Hurt?

No. Nothing pierces the skin and you stay fully clothed. Most people feel nothing, a gentle tapping or mild warmth, and we adjust the setting if anything feels uncomfortable.

How Many PEMF Sessions Will I Need?

It varies with the problem and how long you have had it. Many plans start as a series of sessions over a few weeks, then space out as you improve. We review your progress at each visit.

Can PEMF Therapy Help With Lymphatic Drainage?

Some patients use PEMF to support circulation alongside our lymphatic treatments. Whether it belongs in your plan depends on what is causing the swelling, which we look at first.
